Homestyle Chicken Curry Using Divya Chicken Masala
This is an easy, everyday chicken curry recipe that tastes like something straight from a home kitchen. It uses Divya Chicken Masala and a few other Divya spice powders that bring out deep flavor and rich color. Follow this step-by-step guide to make a delicious curry that’s perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- Chicken – 500 grams (bone-in or boneless, washed and cut into pieces)
- Onions – 2 medium, finely chopped
- Tomatoes – 2 medium, finely chopped or blended
- Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tablespoon
- Divya Chicken Masala (CMR) – 2 tablespoons ✅
- Divya Red Chilli Powder (CP) – 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste) ✅
- Divya Turmeric Powder (TP) – ½ teaspoon (optional) ✅
- Salt – as needed
- Cooking oil – 2 to 3 tablespoons
- Water – 1 to 1½ cups (based on how thick you want the gravy)
- Fresh coriander leaves – a handful, chopped (for garnish)
Step-by-Step Cooking Method
1. Cook the onions
Heat oil in a kadai or deep pan. Add chopped onions and cook on medium heat until they turn golden brown. Stir regularly so they don’t burn.
2. Add the ginger-garlic paste
Add the paste and cook it for 1–2 minutes. This helps remove the raw smell and builds the flavor base of the curry.
3. Add the spices
Now add:
- 2 tablespoons of Divya Chicken Masala
- 1 teaspoon of Divya Red Chilli Powder
- ½ teaspoon of Divya Turmeric Powder (optional)
Mix well and sauté for about a minute. This step allows the spices to release their aroma and blend nicely with the onion mixture.
4. Add tomatoes
Add chopped or pureed tomatoes. Stir and cook until the tomatoes break down and the masala becomes thick and oil starts separating from the sides. This may take 5–7 minutes.
5. Add the chicken
Now add the chicken pieces. Stir to coat them evenly with the cooked masala. Cook for 5–6 minutes until the chicken starts to turn white and firm.
6. Add water and simmer
Pour in 1 to 1½ cups of water depending on how much gravy you want. Mix it well, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 20–25 minutes on low-medium heat. Stir once or twice during cooking.
7. Check and finish
Once the chicken is tender and cooked through, taste the curry and adjust the salt or spices if needed. Turn off the heat.
8. Garnish and serve
Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves on top. Serve hot with steamed rice, roti, or naan.
